Dr. Archibald was born and raised in Rigby, Idaho. He graduated from Rigby High School in 1965, and then served a mission in Brazil for his church from 1966-1968. Upon his return, he married Elaine Ball in 1969.
Dr. Archibald attended two years at Ricks College, before transferring to Pacific University, where he received his Bachelors degree in Science. He continued his education at Pacific University, and received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1974.
Dr. Archibald and his wife then moved to Maryland, where he served in the army as Chief of Optometry at Fort Detrick from 1974 - 1976. Dr. Archibald opened his practice in Rexburg in August of 1976, just two months after the Teton Dam broke.
Dr. Archibald and his wife Elaine, have six children and 26 grandchildren. He enjoys golf, photography, and book collecting in his spare time. His wife Elaine, passed away from brain cancer in 2014. Dr. Archibald married Jean Ann Garner in 2016. They reside in Rexburg.
